A Milestone for the Silicon Valley Company Hastest Solutions Designer, Assembler, and Installer of a Three-Storied Environmental Wind Turbine Test Chamber
University of Maine’s 37,000 Sq. Foot Offshore Wind Laboratory is the new home of the three-storied Environmental Wind Turbine Test Chamber
SAN JOSE, California July 27, 2012 – Hastest Solutions, announces today a company milestone in the design, assembly, and installation of the three-storied Environmental Wind Turbine Test Chamber housed at the University of Maine’s some 37,000 square feet Offshore Wind Laboratory. Dr. Habib Dagher is the director of the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center who is constructing North America’s first offshore deepwater wind farm. Sajjad Mir (CEO, Hastest Solutions) “I am committed to the challenge of designing unique and customized environmental test chambers. I am proud that the Hastest team has had the opportunity to participate in what we believe is historic in nature. Dr. Habib’s work at AEWC to provide renewable energy through harnessing Maine’s wind energy is exciting. Hastest Solutions would like to think that we have assisted in aiding Dr. Habib’s efforts to achieving the mission of providing renewable energy here in the U.S.”
The testing of wind turbine materials under realistic environmental offshore conditions would provide key data to efficaciously construct wind turbine blades and materials that would withstand natural environmental conditions. Dr. Habib Dagher says, "The three-stories environmental chamber is very unique, as it will include mechanical servo-hydraulic actuators that allow mechanical fatigue testing simultaneously with environmental cycling. This will provide the ability to test components of offshore structures, turbines, under more realistic environments." The long-term goal is to provide renewable energy in the State of Maine, by 2020; Dr. Dagher projects that it will bring 20 billion dollars of investments to Maine and bring in 7,000 jobs.
Cianbro has played a significant role in the construction of the UMaine’s Offshore Wind Laboratory, and worked with Hastest in the installation of the three-storied Environmental Wind Turbine Test Chamber. Mr. Peter Vigue – (CEO/Chairman – Cianbro Companies) “We are very proud to have been a part of the construction of this facility and have every confidence that it will add significant value to the development of renewable energy and utilizing new materials some of which have yet to be identified and developed”.
